Where is yours?
All eight directions, with the verdict for each. Choose yours.
How to check yours
- 1
Stand at the centre of the office.
- 2
Hold the phone flat, top edge pointing at the reception.
- 3
That direction is where the reception sits.
Standing inside the reception instead? Point the phone at the centre of the office: the reception is in the opposite direction.
Any phone compass will do. Hold it flat and away from steel, speakers and wiring, which pull the needle. The AstroGlimps app reads it for you and warns when something nearby interferes.

Remedies for each direction that is not ideal
- Keep the desk free of heat-generating equipment. Reducing fire sources calms a naturally active corner
- Move the desk toward the north or north-east. Relocating the front desk is the most effective correction
- Keep the entrance path bright and unobstructed. Clear, lit approaches partly offset an unfavourable direction
- Relocate reception toward the north-east. Visitor-facing functions belong in the lighter half of the premises
- Use the south-west for management or storage instead. Giving this corner a weighted function suits it far better
- Face the receptionist toward the north or east. Seat orientation recovers some of what the direction lacks
- Keep the waiting area tidy and well lit. Order and light strengthen a corner built around circulation
