Remedies for each direction that is not ideal
- Keep the space under the stairs empty and clean. Reducing stored weight limits the burden placed on the wealth zone
- Light the stairwell brightly. Light counteracts the heaviness a staircase brings to the north
- Never use the space beneath as a store or toilet. Additional weight or drainage here compounds an already poor placement
- Keep the north-east as open and bright as possible. Lightness partly offsets structure the building cannot easily lose
- Keep the stairwell well lit. Light offsets the mass that a staircase brings to a bright direction
- Avoid placing the stove beneath the stairs. Stacking fire under structural weight compounds both placements
- Keep the area beneath the stairs open. Leaving the underside clear reduces the weight this corner has to carry
